Just over a year ago I went volunteering in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture in the northeastern region of Japan (Tōhoku, 「東北」) for the first time. I have been blogging about my volunteering in Ishinomaki before, but I hadn’t posted a selection of photos from my very first trip, yet. Ishinomaki and its surrounding smaller communities have been among the hardest hit areas by the tsunami, that followed the Great Eastern Earthquake, 2011. This journey has been among the most meaningful things I have done in my life. From here on out I let the memories speak for themselves…

You can find a lot more photos here. Thank you.
